On the 22 March the library invited journalist from different media houses, so that they can tour the library and appreciate what HCL is offering to the community. The relationship with the journalist is seen a good foundation for the library to gain visibility and publicity.

The Harare City Library is among the libraries and schools that received books and CDs from the Book Aid through the IBBY Zimbabwe Section initiative of nurturing reading culture in children in Zimbabwe. The books comprised of writers and publishers from Britain and Zimbabwe.

National Clean up campaign

First Friday of every month is an important day to the nation as it is a national cleaning day as declared by the President of Zimbabwe, his Excellency Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

Harare City Library has embraced this national policy and it has taken it as a day to thoroughly clean the outside of the library by picking papers and weeding the library’s lawn and flowerbeds.

Poetry Day

21 January was a great day for the library, guests and patrons, as it hosted its first event for 2022. The poetry day was to celebrate Poetry and culture in Zimbabwe. It was a free entry event where everyone was invited and the poets ranged from different age groups. The poetry day was a success as the poets managed to give the audience their best performance. Harare City Library would like to thank the guest speaker Mr Lawrence Makwala who represented the board of trustees for Harare City Library, Shona language expert and award winning novelist Ignatius Mabasa as the guest of honour, Mambo Guramatunhu as the guest presenter and those who came.
